I’m excited to showcase another amazing local business for my Featuring Winston series! May’s Featuring Winston showcases Triad Moms on Main. This is one business I not only have the pleasure of knowing the co-owners, Rachel Hoeing and Katie Moosbrugger, but I am proud to be a part of the TMoM team as well. I’ve been a blogger for the site for many years and recently re-joined as a sales rep. It was so fun to hear from them on all the aspects of TMoM and why they love Winston-Salem!
Meet the Owners
Anyone who knows Rachel and Katie will share these same sentiments… they are amazing women and moms! They pour their heart and soul into Triad Moms on Main to provide a truly all-encompassing resource for parents in the Piedmont Triad.
What is their favorite part about owning TMoM?
Katie shares, “I love it when someone tells me how they found something new or learned something because of TMoM. That is the exact reason we started the site, and it’s what inspires us to continue to make it better every day!”
Rachel shares, “I love all of the people we have been able to meet through TMoM. There are so many amazing entrepreneurs, non-profits, and businesses in the Triad! I also enjoy being in-the-know on most things happening in our community.”
What is TMoM?
According to Rachel and Katie it’s “a resource that moms (or dads!) turn to when they need advice, direction, comfort, suggestions, or anything that will help them strengthen their parenting skills, guide them in their journey of motherhood, and make their lives easier.”
While many people might have heard of Triad Moms on Main, they likely don’t realize all the components the site and organization offer. Those resources include:
- Weekly newsletter
- Daily blogs
- Monthly giveaways
- Current event calenda
- City pages for each Triad area
- “By stages” pages for babies through teens
- Comprehensive directories – these are resource lists of all kinds of resources in the Triad area including summer camps, playgrounds, day cares, sports, restaurants, non-profits, and more.
- Two Facebook pages (chat page and fan page)
- Instagram page
How Did TMoM Start?
The owners reflect on how this amazing business and resource began.
“We met at church and began talking one day about how Katie was going to start a blog called Triad Smarty Pants, which was a spinoff of a local blog in Charlotte. Rachel told her to call if she needed any help. Within no time Katie realized it was a big undertaking and reached out to Rachel to join in on the new venture. We then transitioned to Triad Moms on Main when we decided to create an all-inclusive website that was specific to the Triad areas.”
From there the site has grown to amazing numbers, including over 80,000 page views per month! Today, the business remains a women-owned and women-run business with a current team of 16 local moms. The owners share, “Our team’s families have children aging range from ‘due in October’ to ‘grown and flown.’”
Why Winston?
While TMoM is for all parents in the Triad, both Katie and Rachel reside in Winston-Salem. They share a little about what they love about Winston-Salem’s business community and their favorite spots in the city.
Why do you love owning a business in Winston-Salem?
Rachel shares, “I feel that we live in a very supportive community where everyone looks out for the greater good. I also love the fact that our city is very family-centered, and that is what we focus on!”
Katie shares, “Winston-Salem has so much to offer, and it seems like something new opens every week! Plus, I love getting to meet so many amazing moms in our community as well as local business owners.
What are some of your favorite spots in Winston-Salem?
Katie shares, “Whenever friends or family come to town for the first time, we always take them for a stroll through Old Salem. We also love downtown Winston-Salem, especially the Bailey Park area.”
Rachel shares, “You will find me walking the paths at Reynolda House & Gardens at least a few times a week. I also love to bike or walk at Muddy Creek Greenway and Tanglewood Park. I can often be found at The Porch, West End Cafe, Yamas, Zack’s Frozen Yogurt, and Bobo’s Deli. I enjoy Bailey Park, Medaloni Cellars, Radar Brewing, and any locale where we can enjoy drinks and food outdoors.
