Meet Michelle

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“To be completely transparent, I wasn’t always sure what I wanted to be when I was younger. I did know, however, that I wanted to work with people where I would lead. Plus, I always loved how I felt when I created, served, and learned more and more about food.”
What is your favorite part about being an entrepreneur?
“The trails that I get to blaze and the freedoms and responsibilities I have leading others on those trails.”
How is writing important in your business or as an entrepreneur?
“Writing is crucial. From writing recipes to operating procedures to social media content, writing is a fundamental need for an entrepreneur.”
What does being an entrepreneur mean to you?
“It means I will have a great level of responsibility but to counter that, I have a great level of freedom too. Being an entrepreneur in my life is similar to parenting and being a parent. I always have the responsibility to care for those who work for me and I have the freedoms to make the decisions as we go!”
How do you overcome obstacles that being an entrepreneur throws at you?
“With ample time away from the business.”
What is one piece of advice you would give future entrepreneurs?
“Always do the hardest jobs first. Never let the hardest tasks wait. Do them first thing in the morning or the week or the month, whatever it means for you. Just don’t procrastinate!”
How do you manage to wear all the hats an entrepreneur is required to wear? Do you have tips for staying organized?
“Staying organized is the only way to be successful in my opinion. I wear all the hats by being very aware of when I’m wearing which hat! I employ family, so I have to be aware of my responses to my family when they’re wearing the ‘employee hat’. Staying organized and being aware and sensitive to the variety of roles I play is absolutely essential.”
What educational experiences helped when becoming an entrepreneur?
“While I didn’t have the opportunity to attend college, I learned by the experiences I was granted and the mistakes I’ve made.”
